On 18th July, the new Data Protection and Digital Information Bill (Bill 143 2022-23) was introduced to parliament. But it is clear the government’s reforms involve retaining the foundations of UK data protection laws set out in the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR.
Navigator’s Data Protection Essentials training sessions are aimed at professionals with limited previous experience of data protection who need to better understand the legal requirements to improve an organisation’s compliance. They are also suitable for anyone needing a refresher on particular topics, or those who have not been able to keep up-to-date with ICO guidance changes since the introduction of the UK GDPR on 25th May 2018.
A series of nine Essentials sessions (each 90-minutes long) will cover in detail key topics such as direct marketing and completing Data Protection Impact Assessments. Emphasis will be on providing practical training for businesses in view of guidance issued by the regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), so that professionals understand organisational responsibilities, with tips to help ensure business efficiency when complying with the guidance, and also understand how to evidence compliance to meet the UK GDPR accountability requirements.
