Health & Safety – The mental health impact of working from home

Lloyds Resister have recently published a report, ‘Employee well-being during a pandemic’, based on a survey of 5,500 people in 11 countries taken during December 2020. The aim of the survey was to determine the mental health impact caused by the change in working conditions as a result of the pandemic.

Health & Safety – Prosecutions following the fatal fire at Cameron House Hotel

Last month Cameron House Resort (Loch Lomond) Ltd, the owners of the Cameron House Hotel, plead guilty to two separate offences under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 at Dumbarton Sheriff Court following a fire in December 2017 which tragically claimed the lives of two guests.

During the autumn 2020 term HSE carried out spot checks to determine the measures schools were taking to minimise the spread of Covid-19. 500 Scottish schools in 16 local authorities were contacted, these included schools in both the state and independent sectors.

Health & Safety – Extension to first aid certificate requalification

First Aid at Work or Emergency First at Work certificates that expired after 16th March 2020 can remain valid until 31st October 2020, or six months from date of expiry, whichever is later. All requalification training for these certificates should be completed by 31st March 2021.
