I am delighted to share with you news of the latest arrival to the team at Navigator. As many will know, we have a significant market share within the independent school sector in Scotland and we have continued to grow that dedicated resource which has been assembled to deliver particular services to that sector. As well as our Head of Employment Law having been the lead adviser to the largest teaching union in Scotland for eight years before joining Navigator, we also boast two of our HR Projects team having experienced life on the “inside” while being employed as HR Managers of independent schools in Scotland. As part of that continued development, Jonathan Molloy will be joining the team from 1st September.
Jonathan was until most recently the Bursar of Europe’s largest independent school, ESMS where he held that position for twelve years. Prior to this, Jonathan enjoyed an impressive career which included significant roles with two blue chip companies and a big 4 consultancy.
While at ESMS, Jonathan was responsible for the financial and operational management of the schools. Over that time, as well as the usual gambit of capital projects and general compliance issues, Jonathan also oversaw significant defined projects such as preparing for the OSCR charity test and the implementation of GDPR.
Jonathan was elected to and served on the Board of the Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS) between 2015 and 2019. He was also elected as Chair of the Scottish Independent Schools Bursars Association (SISBA) and fulfilled that role between 2018 and 2021. Through his period as Chair of SISBA, Jonathan was also a co-opted Board Member of the UK Independent Schools Bursars Association (ISBA). Jonathan’s experience of life as Bursar at ESMS as well as his tenure at SCIS, SISBA and ISBA have marked him out as an individual with unrivalled experience of the independent school sector in Scotland.
Jonathan is married with two children at university, enjoys playing trumpet and bass guitar and is the President of Linlithgow Reed Band. He enjoys orienteering, mountain and road biking and has completed 50 park runs.
I believe that Jonathan will play a significant role in Navigator further aligning itself with the independent school sector and in particular will help us to design and implement advisory and consultancy solutions that are urgently required by the sector. I and the team at Navigator wish Jonathan a very warm welcome.
